Genuinely Jo Brand & Website

WHAT: Jordan is a Chicago-based couples, brand & portrait photographer who wanted a stunning custom website to display her work and capture leads. She came with strong visual ideas that reflected her shooting aesthetic, but she needed my help turning those ideas into a beautiful, functional site.

HOW: I created wireframes in Figma, then turned them into high-fidelity mockups after developing brand styles and incorporating the client’s imagery.

After client review, I built the site in WordPress running a custom theme & builder the client had purchased. The site consists of 15 unique pages, plus blog posts populating the portfolio. We love how the site turned out—but the photos speak for themselves!

TOOLS: Figma, Photoshop, WordPress, Flothemes, HTML/CSS

From our initial call, I gleaned a few design motifs to incorporate into the designs: a freeform mosaic of images that envelop the user, with a simple line guiding the user to the relevant information on each page.

This visual design represents how Jordan feels about her role: as a photographer, her value goes beyond capturing a client’s story visually; it’s also about guiding them through the process of preserving cherished memories and seeing their best selves.

The image optimization alone was a beast, finding the sweet spot between file size and quality for an image-dominated site.

I built the inquiry pages entirely with HTML/CSS to embed and style custom forms. I applied additional CSS for custom shadows, media queries, and other styling throughout the site that the theme builder did not allow.

Despite their smaller screen size I believe that no mobile device should suffer, so I made sure to adjust the designs to thrive on mobile devices as well as desktop. This was vital for Jordan, as most of her leads come from Instagram.
